Fire Retardant

Our range of high visibility fire retardant clothing complies with AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 for Class D/N (Day/Night). Fire or flame retardant (FR) clothing reduces burn injury and increases escape time for workers exposed to electric arc flash, flash fires or other heat-related hazards – such as those working in the petroleum, petrochemical, electrical and gas industries.

Our FR clothing meets international standards to provide maximum protection to workers. NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety Standard) has assigned four PPE categories (previously Hazard Risk Categories or HRC) which directly relate to the Arc Thermal Protective Value (ATPV) rating of protective clothing. These categories specify the potential of arc flash and rank from 1 to 4, with PPE 1 (HRC1) presenting the least risk.

Flame resistant fabric can either be treated, (FR properties added chemically to suppress fire ignition and flame spread, can wash out over time) or inherent (FR properties are built into the fabric that are permanent and inseparable, the flame resistant qualities will never wash out).
